Torq V+ TEC - FCS II - 3 Fin - Mid-Length
Description
“I caught more waves than I ever have in one session. A total game changer.”
The Volume Plus extends the trend of wide boards with plenty of volume into a mid-length model. The result is a board with the stability and paddle-ability of a much longer board, but in a compact form that turns more easily.
These boards suit surfers of all levels, whether you're looking for your first board or adding to your quiver for fun sessions. The high volume makes catching waves super easy, while the rocker and bottom contours make it lively and agile under your feet, with more performance than you'd expect from a larger board. Ideal for beginners, ideal for larger surfers who want a shorter board.
Fin(s) included: None.
Construction - TEC
Torq Epoxy Composite offers performance shapes in Torq's vacuum-epoxy lay-up. Vacuum epoxy uses a manual lay-up, with a vacuum process that bonds the fiber to the board and removes excess resin. Torq has a few tricks in that vacuum process that keep the resin content at a much better level than is normally achievable.
What are the advantages?
Extra layers of fiber can be added while keeping the total weight low – Torq's shortboards have 18oz fiber on the deck and 10oz on the bottom, about double what you'd find on most boards of the same weight.
The result is both light and durable. The weight is comparable to that of a PU, but there's much more fiber and more layers reinforcing the rail.
How do they surf?
The performance is very direct – TEC responds immediately, which works particularly well in smaller or weaker waves. In larger waves, the advantage is that they break much less easily.
If you're used to PU, they'll feel fast at first. After a few sessions, your old PU will feel very sluggish. Torq's team riders report that their boards last about 2 to 4 times longer than their previous boards.
About Torq
Torq builds surfboards with its own epoxy constructions such as TET, TEC, and ACT and is known for boards that are both light and durable. The range extends from accessible fun shapes to performance models, so there's something for every level. This is precisely why you'll find Torq on the rack at Hart Beach: boards that effortlessly withstand a full North Sea season.
