Torq Mod Fish Soft Performance - Futures - 5 Fin - Mid-Length
Description
"Bought the 6'3 for my child. Ended up leaving it in the car and using it myself."
The Mod Fish perfectly bridges the gap between a mid-length and a shortboard. Its overall stability and feel inspire confidence. Fishes are wide with a full nose, which ensures fast paddling and stability – ideal for catching waves and gaining speed on the wave.
If you ride them shorter than a mid-length, they offer significantly more maneuverability. The tail plan shape and double concave allow for tighter turns, vertical surfing, and cutbacks in the pocket.
The Mod Fish performs well in most types of waves and conditions, from knee-high to overhead and from clean to choppy.
Fin(s) included: Soft fin set.
Construction - Soft Deck
The original Torq construction – with an extra layer of EVA foam on the deck.
Torq takes a fully finished TET surfboard – with the same shape, lay-up, fin system, and Shield Skin – and adds a foam deck skin to it.
What are the advantages?
TET is Torq's strongest construction, light and pleasant to surf. For surf schools or rentals, these boards are extremely durable.
The EVA foam layer is soft, so it's safer if the board hits you – nice when you're learning to surf. It's also grippy because Torq uses a textured EVA, meaning you don't need wax. Great in warm climates and much less messy.
It also adds some volume, especially on the rail – a fuller rail is more stable. And more volume means more buoyancy and therefore better paddling.
How do they surf?
Beneath the soft deck is a real surfboard – a full-fledged hard board made for surfing. The surf performance is essentially the same as that of a TET: a pleasantly light and neutral feel, responsive yet forgiving.
About Torq
Torq is known for epoxy surfboards that combine light weight and high strength, from accessible all-rounders to high-performance shapes developed with renowned shapers. Each construction – TET, TEC, or ACT – has its own character, but all are built to last. This makes Torq boards a good fit for Hart Beach: boards that can withstand daily use in the North Sea and work for every skill level.
