Torq Go-Kart TEC - FCS II - 5 Fin - Mid-Length
Description
“It’s a really easy board to ride and the tech feels lively, fast, and loose, which is the best combination in a board. It also holds its rail nicely through carves.” – Damien Fahrenfort
Like its namesake, the Go-Kart is super fast and agile, designed for quick acceleration and tight turns.
Torq’s team riders have tested it in all conditions, from windy and waist-high to overhead and hollow. It's a board that does it all and more – airs, turns, and barrels – yet has enough buoyancy to skate on lazier days.
Looking for a board that surfs like a shortboard, but without the limitations of a regular shortboard? This is it.
Fin(s) included: None.
Construction - TEC
Torq Epoxy Composite offers performance shapes in a vacuum epoxy layup. In vacuum epoxy, the laminate is applied by hand, after which a vacuum process bonds the fibers to the board and pulls out excess resin. Torq also uses a few proprietary tricks in the vacuum process, which keeps the resin content much lower than normally achievable.
What are the benefits?
Extra layers of fiber can be added while keeping the total weight low – Torq's shortboards have 18oz fiber on the deck and 10oz on the bottom, about double what you find on most boards of the same weight.
The result is both light and durable. The weight is comparable to a PU, but with much more fiber and more layers reinforcing the rails.
How do they surf?
The performance is very direct – TEC reacts immediately, which works particularly well in smaller or weaker waves. In larger waves, the advantage is that they break much less easily.
If you're used to a PU, they will feel fast at first. After a few sessions, your old PU will feel very slow!
Torq's team riders report that their boards last about 2 to 4 times longer than their previous boards.
About Torq
Torq is known for epoxy surfboards that combine low weight and high strength, from accessible all-rounders to high-performance shapes developed with renowned shapers. Each construction – TET, TEC, or ACT – has its own character, but they are all built to last. This makes Torq boards a good fit for Hart Beach: boards that can withstand daily use in the North Sea and work for every level.
