Torq Torq Delpero Pig TEC - Single Fin - Dark Blue
Description
“I added the ED Pig to my quiver for nose-ride contests when the waves are clean and lined up. I can hold the noseride longer and quickly return to the pocket when the wave slows down.” – Edouard Delpero.
A pig shape moves the widest point back, away from the center, and that provides two clear advantages. The wide tail anchors better in the curl and thus supports your nose rides, instead of leaning on the wide planing surface at the front like a typical noserider shape. That smaller nose surface makes pigs more responsive on the nose for small corrections and technical nose riding.
The other effect is the hip in the plan shape: the curvature of the outline in the last third of the board. That creates a much more responsive turning point than the usual traditional noseriders with straight rails, allowing you to change direction much faster.
The Minvielle ED Pig also has a knife deck rail in the tail, so the thickness remains under your feet, but with a super-fast responding rail shape to maneuver a large board.
Fin(s) included: No.
Construction - TEC
Torq Epoxy Composite offers performance shapes in a vacuum-epoxy layup. With vacuum-epoxy, it is laminated by hand, after which a vacuum process binds the fiber to the board and draws out the excess resin. Torq has a few tricks in that vacuum process that keep the resin content much lower than normally possible.
What are the benefits?
Torq can add extra layers of fiber and still keep the total weight low: Torq's shortboards have 18oz fiber on the deck and 10oz on the bottom, about double what you find on most boards of the same weight.
The result is light and durable. The weight is comparable to that of a PU, but there is much more fiber in it and more layers reinforcing the rail.
How do they surf?
The performance is very direct: TEC responds immediately, which is especially good in smaller or weaker waves. In bigger waves, the advantage is that they break much less quickly.
If you are used to PU, they feel fast at first. After a few sessions, your old PU actually feels very slow!
Torq's team riders report that their boards last about 2 to 4 times longer than their previous boards.
About Torq
Torq is a European surfboard brand known for its epoxy and EPS constructions: TET, TET-CS, TEC, and ACT. The brand builds shapes for every level, from first waves to competition longboards from team riders like Edouard Delpero, always with an emphasis on light weight and high strength. At Hart Beach, that fits perfectly: boards that withstand the North Sea year after year without compromising on performance.
