Torq Delpero Pig TEC - Single Fin - Longboard

A pig shape moves the widest point backward, away from the center, which offers two distinct advantages. The wide tail anchors better in the curl, thereby supporting your nose rides, instead of relying on the wide planing surface at the front of a typical noserider shape. That smaller nose surface makes pigs more responsive on the nose for small corrections and technical nose riding.

The other effect is the hip in the plan shape: the curvature of the outline in the last third of the board. This creates a much more responsive pivot point than traditional noseriders with straight rails, allowing you to change direction much faster.

The Minvielle ED Pig also features a knifed deck rail in the tail, so the thickness stays under your feet, but with a super-fast reacting rail shape for maneuvering a large board.

Construction - TEC

Torq Epoxy Composite offers performance shapes in a vacuum-epoxy layup. Vacuum-epoxy involves hand lamination, after which a vacuum process binds the fiber to the board and extracts the excess resin. Torq has a few tricks in this vacuum process that keep the resin content much lower than normally achievable.

What are the benefits?

Torq can add extra layers of fiber and still keep the total weight low: Torq's shortboards have 18oz fiber on the deck and 10oz on the bottom, about double what you'd find on most boards of the same weight.

The result is light yet durable. The weight is comparable to that of a PU, but there's much more fiber and more layers for rail reinforcement.

How do they surf?

The performance is very direct: TEC reacts immediately, which works particularly well in smaller or weaker waves. In larger waves, the advantage is that they break much less easily.

If you're used to PU, they'll feel fast at first. After a few sessions, your old PU will feel very slow!

Torq's team riders report that their boards last about 2 to 4 times longer than their previous boards.
