Torq BigBoy Fish TEC - FCS II - 5 Fin - Mid-Length
Description
“Unless it’s 1ft, my longboard has been sitting in the bus since I got this board.”
The BigBoy Fish is an evolution of the classic Fish design, blending the hidden volume and maneuverability of the BigBoy 23 model with the flowy feel of a Fish.
With a wide template in the front section, the BigBoy Fish is designed for fast paddling, wave catching, and quick acceleration. The straighter rail and wide swallow tail naturally provide immense drive and forward projection, for fast down-the-line speed and powerful rail turns.
Available with 5 fin plugs for a quad or thruster setup.
Fin(s) included: None.
Construction - TEC
Torq Epoxy Composite offers performance shapes in a vacuum epoxy layup. With vacuum epoxy, the laminate is applied by hand, after which a vacuum process adheres the fibers to the board and extracts excess resin. Torq uses a few proprietary tricks in the vacuum process, which keeps the resin content significantly lower than normally achievable.
What are the advantages?
Extra layers of fiber can be added while keeping the total weight low – Torq’s shortboards have 18oz of fiber on the deck and 10oz on the bottom, about double what you find on most boards of the same weight.
The result is light yet durable. The weight is comparable to PU, but with much more fiber and more layers reinforcing the rails.
How do they surf?
The performance is very direct – TEC responds immediately, which works particularly well in smaller or weaker waves. In bigger waves, the advantage is that they are much less likely to break.
If you're used to a PU board, they might feel fast at first. After a few sessions, your old PU will feel very slow!
Torq's team riders report that their boards last approximately 2 to 4 times longer than their previous boards.
About Torq
Torq is known for epoxy surfboards that combine low weight and high strength, from accessible all-rounders to high-performance shapes developed with renowned shapers. Each construction – TET, TEC, or ACT – has its own character, but all are built to last. This makes Torq boards a good fit for Hart Beach: boards that can withstand daily use in the North Sea and work for every skill level.
