Construction - TEC

Torq Epoxy Composite offers performance shapes in a vacuum epoxy layup. In vacuum epoxy, the laminate is applied by hand, after which a vacuum process bonds the fibers to the board and extracts excess resin. Torq uses a few proprietary tricks in the vacuum process, which keeps the resin content significantly lower than normally achievable.

What are the benefits?

Extra layers of fiber can be added while keeping the total weight low – Torq shortboards have 18oz fiber on the deck and 10oz on the bottom, approximately double what you find on most boards of the same weight.

The result is light yet durable. The weight is comparable to PU, but with much more fiber and more layers reinforcing the rails.

How do they surf?

The performance is very direct – TEC reacts immediately, which works particularly well in smaller or weaker waves. In bigger waves, the advantage is that they break much less easily.

If you're used to PU, they will feel fast at first. After a few sessions, your old PU will feel very slow!

Torq team riders report that their boards last approximately 2 to 4 times longer than their previous boards.
