ROAM Tech Sleeve Funboard Boardbag

The ROAM Tech Sleeve is a remarkably versatile day bag. It offers much more padding and protection than a board sock, but at the same time, it's a simpler and more versatile version of a day bag. At ROAM itself, the Tech Sleeve is one of the most frequently used pieces of equipment.

The Velcro closure prevents the risk of zippers getting stuck due to salt if the bag is in contact with it for extended periods. Because the Velcro closes at multiple positions, you can adjust the bag to accommodate boards of various sizes. This makes it much more versatile if you have a quiver and take one board to the beach.

This Tech Sleeve is most suitable for funboards and comes in two sizes: for boards from 6'4 - 7'0 and from 7'0 - 8'0.

About size and shape

Most board bags come in different shapes, corresponding to the type of surfboard: Fish, shortboard, longboard, and so on. The difference mainly lies in the shape of the nose and the width. In doubt? Choose a board bag with a wider nose: a shortboard will also fit perfectly in a Fish bag, and if you take two surfboards, extra space is only useful.

A ROAM board bag is made for the surfboard it's labeled for: a 6’8 board fits in a 6’8 bag. If the bag itself is 6’8” long, it's actually a 6’6 bag. Not every brand does it this way, so double-check.

The width is also important, especially if you're packing two or more surfboards.

Also pay attention to the shape of the tail and whether there is a tail box or a flared fin compartment, so that a surfboard can fit with fins. (Always remove your fins when flying.)
