About size and shape

Most board bags come in different shapes, tailored to the type of surfboard: Fish, Shortboard, Longboard, and so on. The main differences are in the nose shape and width. If you're in doubt, choose a board bag with a wider nose – a shortboard will fit fine in a Fish bag, and if you're taking two surfboards, extra space is only beneficial.

A ROAM surfboard bag is made to fit the board size indicated: a 6'8 bag will fit a 6'8 board. If the bag itself is 6'8 long, it's actually a 6'6 bag. Not every brand does it this way, so check carefully.

Width is also important, especially if you're packing two or more surfboards.

Also pay attention to the shape of the tail and whether there's a tailbox or an expandable fin compartment, so you can pack your surfboard with fins. (Always remove your fins when traveling by plane.)
