About size and shape

Most board bags come in different shapes to match the type of surfboard: fish, shortboard, longboard, and so on. The main differences are in the nose shape and width. In doubt? Choose a board bag with a wider nose. A shortboard fits perfectly in a fish bag, and extra space is always handy for two surfboards.

A ROAM board bag is made to fit the board it's labeled for: a 6'8 bag fits a 6'8 board. If the bag itself is 6'8" long, it's actually a 6'6 bag. Not all brands do this, so check carefully.

Width is also important, especially if you're packing 2 or more surfboards.

Also pay attention to the shape of the tail and whether there's a tail box or expandable fin compartment, so you can put a surfboard with fins in it. Always remove fins when traveling by plane.
