About size and shape

Most board bags come in various shapes, tailored to the type of surfboard: Fish, Shortboard, Longboard, and so on. The difference mainly lies in the shape of the nose and the width. In doubt? Choose a board bag with a wider nose – a shortboard fits perfectly in a Fish bag, and if you're bringing two surfboards, extra space is only convenient.

A ROAM surfboard bag is made to fit the board size indicated on it: a 6'8 bag fits a 6'8 board. If the bag itself is 6'8 long, it's actually a 6'6 bag. Not every brand does this, so check carefully.

Width is also important, especially if you're packing two or more surfboards.

Also, pay attention to the shape of the tail and whether there's a tailbox or fold-out fin compartment, so you can pack your surfboard with fins. (Always remove your fins when traveling by plane.)
