About size and shape

Most board bags come in different shapes, tailored to the type of surfboard: Fish, shortboard, longboard, and so on. The main difference lies in the nose shape and width. If you're unsure, choose a board bag with a wider nose: a shortboard will fit perfectly fine in a Fish bag, and if you're bringing two surfboards, extra space is only a plus.

A ROAM board bag is made for the surfboard it's labeled for: a 6’8 bag fits a 6’8 board. If the bag itself is 6’8” long, it's actually a 6’6 bag. Not every brand does it this way, so double-check.

The width is also important, especially if you're packing two or more surfboards.

Also pay attention to the tail shape and whether there's a tail box or an expanding fin compartment, so a surfboard can fit with fins. (Always remove your fins when flying.)
