ROAM Converter Coffin Boardbag

The Roam Converter Coffin is an exceptionally versatile boardbag system. The base bag is a high-quality bag for 2 boards: 10mm padding, ripstop nylon, heavy-duty zippers, and compression straps already make it a full-fledged travel bag. For short trips and short flights, you can take your daily driver and your step-up or groveler, depending on the destination and expectations.

If you zip in the extra side panels (sold separately), the bag expands to hold 3-4 boards and transforms into a bag for long flights and long trips. With room for a daily driver, a step-up, and spare boards, the 4-board coffin is indispensable for a faraway trip. Once you reach your destination, you can convert the bag back to a 2-board bag, which makes daily use much easier.

Regarding size and shape

Most board bags come in different shapes to match the type of surfboard: fish, shortboard, longboard, and so on. The main difference is in the shape of the nose and the width. In doubt? Choose a board bag with a wider nose. A shortboard fits perfectly fine in a fish bag, and for two surfboards, extra space is only beneficial.

A board bag from ROAM is made to fit the board it is labeled for: a 6'8" bag fits a 6'8" board. If the bag itself is 6'8" long, it's actually a 6'6" bag. Not all brands do this, so check carefully.

The width is also important, especially if you are packing 2 or more surfboards.

Also pay attention to the shape of the tail and whether there is a tail box or an expandable fin compartment, so you can put a surfboard with fins in it. Always remove fins when traveling by plane.
