Description
Designed by and named after the stylish Hawaiian surfer/shaper and Ala Moana regular, Langsdorf "Da Governor" Kane. Kane loved the Town surf spots but had a fondness for the performance-oriented waves at Haleiwa on the North Shore. You could say the Lango fin was built with the idea of surfing everything from small lines to high-performance waves.
The Lango concept is simple: overall balance with directional grip during hard turns and cuts. This fin is also specifically designed to provide grip during the execution of Kane's signature layback backhand carves to the right. As he dragged his back arm into the wave through the layback, he would pivot straight up and finish with a flashy cutback to the left. All while wearing Speedos (don't laugh). Everyone cool wore Speedos back then. In fact, in the 70s, they were the go-to surfwear for core surfers, including the great Gerry Lopez.
The fin's flexibility is kept on the stiffer side with a touch of flex in the upper half. The Lango template curve is inspired by dolphin fin shapes with a swept-back tip for grip. Designed for surfboards from 8'6" to 9'2" in length, but of course, experimenting with different sizes is always recommended.
