Meet your new favourite summer shape, designed by Rob Machado, inspired by the contours of an avocado blended with the DNA of a fish and the performance of a shortboard. Experience the joy of catching waves you wouldn’t even have considered trying before with ease on the Machadocado – this is Rob’s most versatile squash-tail to date. Whether you’re an experienced surfer or just starting out, this shape will be your best friend on smaller days.

Designed by Californian style icons, this board embodies Rob’s extensive experience and passion for small-wave surfing in California. The Machadocado is slightly wider and thicker than your standard shortboard, offering excellent stability and manoeuvrability in rough conditions, whilst the thinner tail provides plenty of control and grip in rounder, more powerful waves. The volume distribution is optimised for quick turns and rapid acceleration in waves ranging from knee-high to overhead. The Thruster fin setup allows you to ride it as a Twin, a Twin with a trailer, or a Thruster, depending on the feel you’re after.

Recommended with the Machado 2 + 1 Fin Set for the best experience. This fin template has been specially designed for the Machadocado to enable tight turns and extreme control.

Wave type
This is Rob Machado’s most versatile hybrid shape, designed to generate speed in weak waves and control speed in good waves. The Machadocado thrives in waves ranging from knee-high to over your head – think fast wraps and speed build-up. It will give you confidence in all conditions; the extra width works well in weak waves, whilst the thinner foil helps in good waves. The avocado-inspired outline makes it easy to catch waves, with more volume packed into a shorter outline.

board features The Machadocado is short and wide, just like Rob’s favourite breakfast dish, with a volume distribution that promotes fast wraps, rapid acceleration and easy paddling. With a double concave designed for easy manoeuvrability, and a V-shaped fin cluster, the Machadocado allows for unusual rail-to-rail transitions for a shape this wide. Rob took great care in refining the thickness distribution from nose to tail, ensuring the shape stays solid in the pocket without sacrificing the ability to generate speed in flat sections. Built using Helium Technology, Rob describes the parabolic flex control provided by the wooden rails as “good for drive on the rail and control in critical sections.”

A stringerless EPS core with flex control at the rails made from Paulownia and Balsa wood – this construction is light and responsive underfoot and excellent at generating speed in everyday waves.
