Oracle - Single Fin

In 2016, Thomas Campbell lent his Skip Frye Eagle to CJ to help him get through the summers in Santa Cruz. Up until then, CJ had hardly any experience with gliders, apart from the occasional session on his father’s 10’3” Phil Edwards Waikiki. The speed and glide he felt on the Eagle completely changed his whole perspective on how a longboard is actually meant to surf. The long turns and relaxed flow won him over straight away, but he always wondered: couldn’t a board like that noseride, pivot and slash through turns—transforming it from a novelty board into a daily driver?

The design of this Glider project had been in the pipeline for a long time. We’ve transformed a point-and-shoot glider into an all-round performance longboard. For years, CJ experimented with gliders from the world’s best shapers. The one thing that always bothered him was that almost all gliders are temperamental and tricky to surf. You can catch waves easily with them, but navigating once you’re on the wave is difficult. We wanted to break with that tradition and build a glider that not only catches waves easily, but also surfs like no other. The Oracle features a generous rocker to prevent hang-ups, a performance rail, a concave nose and tailflip for noseriding, and a light, responsive glassing that takes everything to the next level. If you want to keep surfing smoothly until you’re 80, you’d best start with gliders. A must-have for everyone. (Concept designed by CJ x Ryan Engle)
