Description
The Happy Traveler is designed to be the ultimate all-rounder for bigger and powerful waves — a board you can confidently take on surf trips and use in challenging conditions at home.
Designed by Al Merrick / Channel Islands, this “step-up / travel quiver” is a tweaked version of the classic Happy, with extra control and buoyancy where you truly need it.
Thanks to the reduced concave between the fins, a tighter “pulled in” tail outline, and higher fin placement towards the rail, this model offers optimal grip in powerful surf.

Whether the swell drops or continues, the Happy Traveler performs. In mellow conditions, you benefit from the ‘Happy’s’ rocker profile — no need to bring an extra board.

- Point, reef, and powerful beachbreaks
- Intermediate to advanced surfers
Key performance features:
- Grip & control: the finer concave and higher fin placement truly allow you to “set the board in the wave”
- Paddling power & take-off: extra thickness in the front deck and rail, plus a fuller outline in the nose, help you get into the wave faster
- Flexibility in conditions: when the waves are smaller, the Happy Traveler still performs surprisingly strong thanks to its basic rocker
- Barrel potential: in thick, hollow waves, the board holds its line and maintains a feeling of control
Who is the 6’2 or 6’4 ideal for?
There's a subtle difference between the 6’2 and 6’4: the 6’2 is slightly more playful and agile, while the 6’4 offers a bit more buoyancy and stability on bigger days.
- For surfers who already ride a performance shortboard but are looking for a “step-up / travel” board
- Those who often go on tropical trips, or surfers in the Netherlands / Europe who also want to tackle bigger conditions
- For those seeking one board that can handle a wide spectrum of waves — from solid summer conditions to tropical swells
