Always wanted to learn to surf? At Hart Beach you can learn to surf the waves of the North Sea all year round! Do you want to learn how the waves work, how to control them and, of course, catch that wave? Our surf crew consists of dedicated instructors who go into the water with you 365 days a year. Anyone can learn to surf, including you!

What are you going to do?
This beginner's lesson is all about fun and building confidence in the water. Our experienced, certified instructors will take you on an adventure.
- Safety First: On the beach, we'll explain how the sea works, what to look out for, and how to handle your board safely.
- The Pop-up: We'll practice the perfect pop-up on the sand.
- Real Deal: Then into the water! With the help of the instructors, the kids will catch their first waves in the surf.

Good to know
At Hart Beach we keep the groups small, so that each child gets the attention they deserve.
- Age: For everyone aged 16 and over.
- Certificate: A swimming certificate is mandatory.
- All-in: We arrange everything! A safe soft-top surfboard and a warm Roxy or Quiksilver wetsuit are included in the lesson.
As international students often participate, the lesson may be given in English. If you are not comfortable with this, please let us know when booking or contact the surf school.

Surfing in winter
We're not deterred by a little cold, and neither should you be! With our high-end winter gear from Roxy and Quiksilver, you'll barely notice it's freezing:
- 5/4 mm Wetsuits: Our thickest suits keep your core temperature perfectly regulated.
- Full Protection: Including warm neoprene booties, gloves, and caps to keep out every drop of cold.
- The After-Surf: After 1.5 hours of charging in the waves, warm up immediately under our piping hot showers, and a steaming cup of soup will be waiting for you by the fireplace.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a swimming certificate mandatory for participating in a surf lesson at Hart Beach?
Yes, to participate in a surfing or SUP lesson, you must have a swimming certificate.
How do I log in to my surf school account?
For the surf school, we use a different system than the webshop. Click on this link to log in if you have surfed with us before.
Where are you located and where can I park?
Hart Beach Surfschool is located on Scheveningen beach, on the north side of the pier at the southern end of the Boulevard. Address: Strandweg 3B, 2586 JK Scheveningen.
There is a Q-Park to be found on Strandweg.
On sunny days and weekends, it can be busy. For an up-to-date overview of parking options, we refer you to The Hague's parking information.
Until what time can I surf and what time do you close?
Hart Beach is open 365 days a year, from 8:30 AM until sunset. This means you can rent equipment from us up to one hour before sunset. On very good days, we sometimes open earlier; you can find this information on our Instagram and in our WhatsApp community.
How do I know if the class is going ahead?
Lessons are dependent on the waves and the weather. We always confirm all lessons one day in advance via email. If you have any doubts, please contact us at 070-3502591 or surfschool@hartbeach.nl.
Are you open in winter as well?
Indeed - we are open 365 days a year! In fact, in winter, the waves are often better and more beautiful than in summer. No excuse to stay home!
Are the lockers free?
The lockers are free if you bring your own lock. If you don't have a lock, you can buy one at the counter for €5.00.
Do you have showers and changing rooms? Can I use these even if I bring my own equipment?
We have changing rooms with showers and lockers. These are primarily intended for guests of the surf school and the restaurant. Do you have your own surf equipment? Then enjoy a snack or drink at our restaurant – that way you'll also be one of our guests! 😊
