What are you going to do?
Did the surf vibe get to you after that first beginner lesson? Awesome! For all kids who can't get enough of the water. In the intermediate lessons you will learn:
- Ocean Safety: Learn to read the ocean even better (currents, tides and wind).
- Different types of boards: how they react and what kind of waves you can surf with them.
- Technique: Work on your paddling power, stance and those sharp turns.
- Wave forecasting: learn to read the forecast and predict the waves. This way you'll know which days to hit the water!
- Reading the waves: learn to read the waves and improve your positioning. This way you'll catch more waves! More waves, more fun!
- Confidence: You'll become more confident in the water, even when the waves are a bit bigger!
A towel, swimwear, and a big smile!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a swimming certificate mandatory to participate in the surf lesson/camps?
Yes, if your child wants to participate in the surf camp, they must have a swimming certificate A (or a similar foreign certificate).
Where are you located and where can I park?
Hart Beach Surfschool is located on Scheveningen beach, on the north side of the pier at the southern end of the Boulevard. Address: Strandweg 3B, 2586 JK Scheveningen.
There is a Q-Park to be found on Strandweg.
On sunny days and weekends, it can be busy. For an up-to-date overview of parking options, we refer you to The Hague's parking information.
What if the weather is bad?
Safety comes first. Every Sunday before the camp starts, we make an assessment and plan based on the weather. In case of bad weather, we opt for alternative activities, such as a visit to a museum or an indoor skate park.
What if there are no waves?
If there are no waves, we organise other fun water activities such as stand-up paddleboarding or skimboarding. We also do active beach activities such as beach games and other games.
Are the supervisors and surf instructors experienced enough?
The surf camps are led by an experienced camp leader, together with a team of enthusiastic supervisors and certified surf instructors. All instructors hold a first aid and lifeguard diploma. We work with small groups, so there is always sufficient supervision in the water. In addition, there is extra supervision on the beach for activities, photos, and rest breaks. This ensures there is always sufficient supervision, both in the water and on the beach.
What should my child bring?
Swimwear, a towel, an extra T-shirt, a warm jumper, socks, closed shoes (for skateboarding), long trousers, and your own water bottle. And a big smile, of course!
Do you have showers and changing rooms?
We have changing rooms with showers and lockers. These are primarily intended for guests of the surf school and the restaurant. Do you have your own surf equipment? Then enjoy a snack or drink at our restaurant – that way you'll also be one of our guests! 😊
