What are you going to do?
Whether you're trying stand-up paddleboarding for the first time or want to improve your technique on a SUP board: we'll make sure you leave the water with a big smile and a whole lot of new skills.
- Welcome & Gear-up: Our crew will be ready with a Roxy or Quiksilver wetsuit that perfectly matches the season.
- Theory on the sand: Before we head into the sea, we'll start with the basics on the beach. Our certified instructors will explain everything about safety, currents, and of course, technique.
- Into the water: Time for action! You'll go out to sea with your instructor. We keep groups small so you always receive personalized tips.

Good to know
Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) in the sea is a completely different challenge than on a calm lake. At Hart Beach, we teach you the ins and outs of Stand Up Paddling in the surf.
Our instructors will teach you how to paddle efficiently, how to maintain your balance on the swell, and how to apply the 'rules of the ocean'.
Due to the physical challenge and safety on open water, we apply a minimum age of 16 years.
SUP is weather-dependent and only possible under certain conditions.
Facilities

- Free Lockers: Use a free locker to store your belongings. Bring your own padlock. : We'll take care of everything! A safe soft-top surfboard and a warm Roxy or Quiksilver wetsuit are included in the lesson.
- OPEN 365 DAYS A YEAR: At the Hart Beach Quiksilver surf school, you can learn to surf 365 days a year.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a swimming certificate mandatory for participating in a surf lesson at Hart Beach?
Yes, to participate in a surfing or SUP lesson, you must have a swimming certificate.
How do I log in to my surf school account?
For the surf school, we use a different system than the webshop. Click on this link to log in if you have surfed with us before.
Where are you located and where can I park?
Hart Beach Surfschool is located on Scheveningen beach, on the north side of the pier at the southern end of the Boulevard. Address: Strandweg 3B, 2586 JK Scheveningen.
There is a Q-Park to be found on Strandweg.
On sunny days and weekends, it can be busy. For an up-to-date overview of parking options, we refer you to The Hague's parking information.
Until what time can I surf and what time do you close?
Hart Beach is open 365 days a year, from 8:30 AM until sunset. This means you can rent equipment from us up to one hour before sunset. On very good days, we sometimes open earlier; you can find this information on our Instagram and in our WhatsApp community.
How do I know if the class is going ahead?
Lessons are dependent on the waves and the weather. We always confirm all lessons one day in advance via email. If you have any doubts, please contact us at 070-3502591 or surfschool@hartbeach.nl.
Are you open in winter as well?
Indeed - we are open 365 days a year! In fact, in winter, the waves are often better and more beautiful than in summer. No excuse to stay home!
Are the lockers free?
The lockers are free if you bring your own lock. If you don't have a lock, you can buy one at the counter for €5.00.
Do you have showers and changing rooms? Can I use these even if I bring my own equipment?
We have changing rooms with showers and lockers. These are primarily intended for guests of the surf school and the restaurant. Do you have your own surf equipment? Then enjoy a snack or drink at our restaurant – that way you'll also be one of our guests! 😊
